Use Your Money to Grow My Character

In review of Proverbs 23:23 it says, “Truth, wisdom, learning, and good sense — these are worth paying for, but too valuable for you to sell” (GNT).

Today’s verse is Proverbs 23:23 and it tells me to pursue the truth and obtain facts. I need to be willing to pay a high price for it. I am to buy and invest in it, as it is of an extremely high value. It’s not something I should easily give up or toss aside.

The worlds values have us spending money to obtain comfort, but the Bible teaches that it is wiser for us to invest in that which will help build our character.

As such, God wants me to take some of my money and invest it in myself, in my personal and spiritual improvement. The Bible says, “Grow in spiritual strength and become better acquainted with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18 TLB).

The Bible also says, “Buy truth — don’t sell it for love or money; buy wisdom, buy education, buy insight” (Proverbs 23:23 The Message). God wants me to develop skills and educate myself so that I can become the kind of person he has shaped me to be.

Anytime I use my money to buy a Christian book or a resource that helps me grow, I’m investing in God’s Growth Fund. Whenever I use my money to take a class or learn something that makes me more of who or what God wants me to be, I’m investing in my growth. And I’m sure that God is smiling because I’ll be using my money in the right way.

Bottom Line:
Truth, wisdom, instruction and insight are things worth pursuing and paying a high price for..

What this means to me:
I should pursue truth, wisdom, learning, insight and good sense. It is extremely valuable and not something I should easily give up or sell.

In summary, I need to pursue wisdom, instruction, discipline, good sense/judgement and insight. Be willing to pay the price to obtain it. Use it to build my character and be what God wants me to be. This is a great reminder of what I had already been taught through the “Way of Wisdom” seminars and teaching I had been fortunate to receive from Harold Bullock. I’m happy to be able to attend the upcoming global leadership summit next week. It will be an opportunity for me to refresh and learn from leaders those things that will help my grow my leadership and my character.

Today Father I thank you for the opportunities I’ve had in the past to learn first hand how valuable wisdom is to obtain. I pray Father that you guide me today, provide the insight I’ll need to lead and plan / accomplish the activities you have given me. Help me to respond rightly to those I interact with. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
