God Uses Time to Help Me Grow

In review of Isaiah 49:8 I'm reminded that, At the right time I will hear your prayers. On the day of salvation I will help you”. “I am the Lord, and when it is time, I will make these things happen quickly” (NCV).

This is often hard to accept because God’s waiting room is sometimes the most difficult place in life. I’m in God’s waiting room when I’m in a hurry for something to happen but God isn’t. I’m thinking, “God, there isn’t a whole lot of time left. This either has to happen now or it’s not going to happen at all.”

But from what I’m learning, God isn’t subject to time. Because he created time, he operates outside of time. That’s why the Bible says in Psalm 90:4 that a thousand years can seem like a few hours to God.

I believe that He uses time to test my faith and to build my character. While I’m working on my goal, God is working on me. And God is much more interested in me than in what I’m trying to accomplish, because I’m not taking any of my accomplishments to heaven. I’ll only be taking my character.

A lot of times I think I’m waiting on God for something to happen, like a prayer to be answered. However, God is saying, “You’re not waiting on me. I’m waiting on you. I’m preparing you. I’m testing your faith and trying to mature you, because the blessing I want to give you is so much bigger than you can handle right now. Will you trust me?”

Delays are part of God’s design. They are there to teach me to trust him and to grow up in my character. Isaiah 49:8 says, “At the right time I will hear your prayers. On the day of salvation I will help you.” Not “might”, God will hear and answer and help, when the time is right.

In summary, God hears my prayers. At the right time, he will make things happen. God's waiting room is often the most difficult place in life. I'm in there, when I'm in a hurry for something to happen, but God isn't. God isn't subject to time, he created it and operates outside of it. He'll use time to test my faith to build my character. God is most interested in me than in what I am trying to accomplish. Seems I'm waiting on God for something to happen, however God is really waiting on my. He is preparing me, testing my faith and trying to mature me. The blessings he wants to give are bigger than I can handle at this time, I need to trust him for the right timing. I can be assured that God hears and that he will answer and help when the time is right.

Father this morning, I ask for your Spirit to help in me understanding that delays are there only to help test my faith and build my character. I ask for your encouragement as I wait for your answer and for you to work. I also ask for wisdom and guidance for my day, my work, my leadership and my interactions with others. These things I pray in your Son Jesus name, Amen.
