God’s Power Will Always Protects Me

In review of 1 Peter 1:5 this morning I read, And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation” (NLT).

As a Christ follower I can look forward to an inheritance, a "priceless" inheritance, eternal life in the eternal city of God. God has reserved the inheritance; it will never fade or decay; it will be unstained by sin. The best part is that I now have this inheritance because I have trusted Christ as my Savior

As a follower and believer I will face trials as I let my light shine into the darkness. I must accept trials as part of the refining process that burns away impurities and prepares me to meet Christ. My trials, struggles, and persecutions refine and strengthen my faith making me useful to God. Instead of asking why? I should respond with a new set of responses: (1) Confidence that God knows, plans and directs my life for Good. He wants to lead me to a better future. (2) Perseverance when facing obstacles. I can express my grief, but I don't give in to bitterness and despair. (3) Courage because with Jesus as my brother and Savior, I need not be afraid. He who suffered for me will not abandon me. Jesus has promised to carry me through everything.

God is watching over me every moment of the day, just like a bodyguard would. Everything in life is Father-filtered, even the hard things caused by my own or others’ sin. God can still use it or his good.

That means God’s power protects me: “And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation” (1 Peter 1:5 NLT).

When I find myself in a situation where I feel hopeless, helpless, or powerless, it’s all a lie. I’m not hopeless, helpless, or powerless when I have God in my life.

Just like the signs in front of a house that says, “Protected by a security system”, I need a little sign to remind me, “Protected by God.”

The word “protect” in 1 Peter 1:5 means garrison. It is a military term that refers to sending soldiers to a town in order to protect it. They garrison the town, staying there to guard it. In the same way, I am continuously guarded by God.

In faith, I need to trust that God is there with his protection.

In summary, through my faith God is protecting me by his power. I have a "priceless" inheritance reserved for me by God, through what Jesus did for me. I will face trials. I need to accept these as part of the refining process that will burn away impurities and prepares me to meet Christ. When they happen, don't ask why, but respond with knowing with confidence that God has a plan for good, perseverance where I don't give in to bitterness and despair, and courage because with Jesus on my side I need not be afraid. Jesus has promised to carry me through. Like a bodyguard, God is watching over every moment of my day. Everything that happens is God filtered. He will use it for his good. I just need to trust that God is there with his protection for my life.

God protects me and provides me with a “priceless” inheritance. What happens to me, including trials are there to refine and prepare me. God will use what happens for his purpose. I need to make sure that I don’t give into bitterness or despair, but trust that God is there with his protection and goodness for my life.

At work the POAM’s related projects are putting a tremendous strain on myself, my team and the leadership. Today Father I want to pray for your wisdom, guidance and assistance in putting together plans of action to complete these. Give me clarity and help me not despair about them. Give me the strength to organize and lead my team to complete them. I also pray for you wisdom and guidance for other items in my task list, problems that occur, my leadership and my interaction with others. These things I pray in your Son Jesus name, Amen.
