God’s Dream Is for My Good and His Glory

In Ephesians 3:20 I read, “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” (The Message)

God’s dream for my life will always be far bigger than my dream.

How do I know that? Because God promises it: “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us” (Ephesians 3:20 The Message).

If I could think of the greatest dream for my life, God would top it. He can beat my dream with one that’s bigger than I could ever think up! But he doesn’t give me my dream by pushing me around. In fact, he draws me to him and works within me with great gentleness and care.

God doesn’t only give me a big dream for my life. After he gives me the dream, he then arranges the circumstances to make it happen.

Things will happen in my life that make me think, “There’s no way that could have happened without God’s help.” No way that I could have met that person at just the right time, or that the money could have come just as I needed it, or that an opportunity opened up at the perfect moment.

When I get in line with God’s will, I can’t miss it, because God doesn’t sponsor flops. Success is inevitable! It won’t always look like I think, because God knows better, but it will always be for my good and for God’s glory.

God says in Revelation 3:8, “I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut” (NIV). When God gives me a dream, then he circumstantially provides the open doors for me to make that dream come true.

Then I just need the courage to walk through that open door. That’s where faith comes in. Many people understand God’s dream for their life but are scared to death to walk through the door.

When I surrender my plans and dreams to God so that he can give me his plans and dreams for my life, I need to be prepared to walk through a door when he opens it. So choose to get ready today.

Following God through that door will lead to the best dream I could ever imagine for my life. I shouldn’t want to miss it!

In summary, God’s dream for my life will always be far bigger than anything I can dream of. God promises it. If I could think of the greatest dream for my life, God would top it. He can beat my dream with one that’s bigger than I could ever think up! But he doesn’t give me my dream by pushing me around. Rather, he draws me to him and works within me with great gentleness and care. God not only gives me a big dream, but he then arranges the circumstances to make it happen. Glory belongs to God, whose power is at work in me. By this power he can do infinitely more than I could ever ask or imagine. Faith starts with stretching my imagination. It begins with a concept, vision or a mental picture. It always starts with an idea. As an example, God gave Abraham a picture. Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. Abraham has something he could visualize. God will grow my faith by stretching my imagination, by giving me a dream. What I can dream and believe in faith, I can achieve.
