Faithful People Are Persistent People

In review of Galatians 6:9 I read “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (NIV).

It is discouraging to continue to do right and receive no word of thanks or see any tangible results. But I am challenged to keep on doing good and to trust God for the results. In due time, I’ll reap a harvest of blessing.

A person of faith simply doesn’t know how to quit. They never give up. They keep on keeping on. They understand that faith means having persistence.

When I don’t see God’s answer to my prayer right away, I can just wait or I can be persistent. One choice is passive; the other is active. While I wait, I continue working. I don’t give up, even though I don’t see the answer. I keep working at it believing that there’s going to be a breakthrough. I don’t give up!

Noah was an amazing man of faith. God told him to build an ark because there would be a flood. It must have been difficult for him to bear ridicule for building a boat in the middle of the desert, with no idea how God was going to get water to it. It took Noah 120 years to build the ark. That’s a long time to wait! It’s a long time to trust, especially when everyone thinks you’re crazy.

But Noah persevered. He was persistent, and he stayed faithful to the task God had given him.

Galatians 6:9 reminds me, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (NIV).

This verse is encouraging me to not give up! For me to be persistent in my purpose. To become a faithful person so God can use me to do what seems impossible to everyone else.

In summary, I shouldn't give up doing what is right or needs to be done, at the right time, blessings will come. Continue even when I'm not be recognized, acknowledged or see any tangible results / answers. Faith is being persistent. So While I wait, I continue to work at it and Stay faithful to the task that God has given me. I am to be persistent in my purpose and become a faithful person God can use to do what seems impossible to others.

Others may look at my situation and want to give up. However, I'm being further encouraged to not give up, blessings will come. I also need to realize that the blessings may not come in the way I think they should look like. I need to be conscience of what follows, as it may come in a way I wasn't thinking of. I also recognize that often I'm looking for validation and appreciation from resources that are not you Father. Your validation and love is all that I really need. While I wait, I need to be persistent in purpose and become a faithful person that you Father can use and to be an example and encouragement of what seems impossible to others.

Father this morning I pray for your Spirit to continue to encourage me. I pray also for wisdom and guidance for my day, my work, my leadership and my interaction with others. These things I pray in your Son Jesus name, Amen.
