Knowing God As Father

In summary of Matthew 6:9 it says, “This, then, is how you should pray:  ‘Our Father in heaven: May your holy name be honored”

Bottom Line:
When you pray say, “Our Father in heaven, may your name always be kept holy.

What this means to me:
This first part of the Lord’s Prayer is recognizing God as my ultimate Father and striving to recognize him and to honor him who He is.  He is called father because Jesus told us to call him Father (Jesus uses this expression many times.)  Jesus indicates that God is not an angry tyrant, cosmic cop, or impersonal force.  God is a person, not a power.  God is a personal God.  He created me and wants to have a relationship with me.  When I can understand the truth of what God the Father is really like, I can be much more connected with him and really love him.
