What’s the Cure for Stress?

In Romans 8:32 I read, “Since he did not spare even his own Son for us but gave him up for us all, won’t he also surely give us everything else?” (TLB)

If I’m looking for a cure for stress, I can look to God who will meet my needs.

The major cause of stress in life is worry. I worry because I wonder if I will have what I need when I need it. However, any time I expect people or things to meet my needs instead of God, I’m going to be frustrated and disappointed, because nobody on earth can meet all my needs. Only God can do that.

People find their security in different things; jobs, marriage or money. If they lose their job, they lose their peace of mind. If their spouse dies or they go through a divorce, and they ask, “Who am I? What is my identity?” And there are a lot of ways to lose money.

It is recommended that I never put my security in anything that can be taken away from me. While I can lose my job, health, reputation, spouse, and so many other things. I cannot lose my relationship with Christ.

When I put my security in that promise, I can trust God to meet all my needs.

If God loved me enough to send Jesus Christ to die on the cross, shouldn’t I think he loves me enough to take care of every other need in my life? Yes! Of course he does.

Every time I start to get stressed, pause and say, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1 ESV).

God’s going to provide. He’s going to take care of me. Instead of stressing out, I can look to him to meet all my needs.

God alone is the possessor of absolute power and absolute wisdom. In the final analysis, all of us are absolutely dependent on God. He is the source of all things, including myself. He is the power that sustains and rules the world I live in. And God works out all things to bring glory to himself. The all-powerful God deserves all of my praise.
