Learning To Trust God With My Destiny

In review of Luke 1:46-47 it tells me “Mary said: ‘My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior’” (NIV).

Mary glorified God for what he was going to do for the world through her. God is the champion of the poor, the oppressed and the despised. Mary wasn't being proud, rather she was recognizing and accepting the gift God had given her. Pride would be refusing to accept God's gifts or taking credit for what God has done; humility is accepting the gifts and using them to praise and serve God. Don't deny, belittle, or ignore the gifts he has given me. Rather, thank God for them and use them to his glory.

When it comes to planning, it’s easy for me to act like an atheist. I realize that Jesus has saved me, but am I really trusting him. I often plan my life any way I want to. But the reality is that God created me and made for a unique purpose. He has a specific destiny for me.

God had a plan for Mary. He chose her, and he created her to become the mother of the Son of God. And what was Mary’s response? She didn’t say, “I’ve got my own plans for my life. I’m too busy. I have to do what’s best for me.” No, she realized God had a purpose for her life, and she was willing to do whatever he wanted. She trusted him with her life, even though she knew no one would believe her when she told them what the angel said.

Do I trust that God has made me for a specific destiny? The Bible says, “Know that the Lord is God. He made us, and we belong to him; we are his people, the sheep he tends” (Psalm 100:3 NCV).

God’s destiny for my life is better than any plan I’ll ever come up with. So if I’m going to trust somebody with my life, who better to trust than my Maker, the one who created me for a purpose?

In summary, my soul should glorify the Lord and my spirit rejoice in God my Savior. Recognize and accept the gifts God has given me to praise and serve God. When it comes to planning, realize that Jesus not only saved me, but that I trust him. Remember that God created me and made me for a unique purpose. He has a specific destiny for me. Realize that God has a purpose for my life. I need to be willing to do whatever he wants. God's destiny for my life is better than any plan I'll ever come up with. If I'm going to trust somebody with my life, who better than to trust my Maker, the one who created me for a purpose.

God, I can trust you with my destiny and I need to keep this in mind as I put plans together for my life. I often get caught up in my own realm and only think about myself. I need to be looking for what you intended for me to do. Until I know with certainty the specific things, I need to live knowing what you have already said I should do, which is get to know and love you, serve others with the gifts you provide me and love others in the same manner you love me.

I pray this morning that my thoughts be filled with knowing and executing your will. I pray for wisdom and guidance for me day, my leadership and my interactions with others. These things I pray in your Son Jesus name, amen.
