Can I Really Count on God?

In review of Proverbs 3:5-6 it says, “Trust the LORD with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the LORD in all you do, and he will give you success” (NCV).

Today’s passage is Proverbs 3:5-6. I’m instructed to trust in the Lord with all my heart; and not depend on my own understanding. I should seek his will in all I do, and then he will show me which path to take. I should never be impressed with my own wisdom. Instead, take the Lord seriously and turn away from evil. Then I will have healing for my body and strength for my bones.

There are times when important decisions come my way, and often I go off on my own as if I feel that I can't trust anyone, not even God. But His Word tells me that He knows what is best for me. He is a better judge of what I need and want even before I ask. I must learn to trust and rely on him completely in every choice I make. I shouldn't omit careful thinking or belittle my God-given ability to reason; but I should not trust my own ideas to the exclusion of all others. I must not be wise in my own eyes. I should always be willing to listen to and be corrected by God's Word and wise counselors. I need to bring my decisions to God in prayer; use the Bible as my guide; and then follow God's leading. He will direct my paths by both guiding and protecting me.

In order to receive God's guidance, I must seek God's will in all I do. This means turning every area of life over to him. Examine my values and priorities. What is important to me? Where is God on that list? In what areas have I failed to acknowledge Him? In many areas I may already acknowledge God, but it is in the areas where I attempt to resist or ignore his influence that will cause me grief. I need to make him a vital part of everything I do; then he will guide me because I will be working to accomplish his purposes.

I need to continue to really know God so that I won’t have problems trusting him. The truth is, God is infinitely worthy of my trust because no being in the universe is as capable to influence the world around me as he is. The Bible says, “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me” (Psalm 54:4 NIV). God has the power (and the desire) to sustain and help me through whatever I’m going through. He wants to give me his best for my life — and he is uniquely able to help me get there. He is the creator of the universe. He literally has all the resources in the universe that he can mobilize on my behalf as I seek to follow him. But the key is, I must trust him. The Bible says, “Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NCV). I can trust God with everything I am because he is able to help me succeed if I do. That doesn’t mean that God will give me all the money, fame, or power Iou want. But if you trust him, God will help me succeed in what he has called me to do and be.

Bottom Line:
Trust God with everything you have, and don’t depend on your own understanding. If you bring him into what you do, he will grant you success.

What this means to me:
I need to have a complete trust in the Lord, one that encompasses my entire heart and not just rely on my own understanding. Remember the Lord in the things that I do, and he will give me success.

In summary, I need to trust in the Lord with all my heart. I need to avoid just going on with my own understanding. I need to seek what His will is in whatever it is I do. He promises to guide me when I do. So take him seriously and keep away from evil. I should always be willing to listen to and be corrected by God's Word and wise counselors. Bring the decisions I have to God in prayer. Use His Word and follow His leading.

Thank you Father for this reminder. You want to help guide me to do your will. It’s important for me to seek you out, not just in the really big things but in all things. My priority should be to seek your kingdom and your rightesounsess. This morning Father I pray for your guideance throughout my day. Help to keep me on track with compleing what is important. Help me to communicate in a loving manner with others. Help me to guide and lead others. In Jesus name, Amen!.
