Recognizing God As Father

In review of Matthew 3:15-17 it says, "Jesus replied, 'Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.' Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.'”

Bottom Line:
God was pleased with Jesus’ obedience and his recognition of God his Father and all that the Father’s desires.

What this means to me:
Like Jesus, I can please God the Father with my life and decisions and my recognition of Him and his desires.

At the exact moment when Jesus was baptized, God spoke a blessing over Him, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with whom I am well pleased.” Today, I’d like to consider how much God really likes it when I recognize Him as my Father. Scripture tells me that He has sought me. He enjoys being my Father and considers me His child. I’m certain that He loves and is pleased with me.

In Zephaniah 3:17, it tells me, “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” (NIV). God Himself rejoices in song when He thinks about you, His son or daughter.

If God sings happily about me, it makes me wonder what lyrics he is saying?  It is comforting to know that even when doubts cross my mind, you will be there to provide hope. “When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” (Psalms 94:19, NLT)

Today God, I acknowledge You as my Heavenly Father. I Thank You for making me Your child! I am so grateful for Your love. Thank You, God, for revealing Yourself to me through the Bible. Amen in Jesus’ Holy name.
